Healthier And More Natural Nail Varnish
I don’t know about you, but in the summer, I go crazy for nail varnish. There is something about all the bright colours that go so well with your summer wardrobe, I seem to have a new colour every week!
Having nice coloured nails doesn’t mean you have to compromise on whether or not they are healthy and natural. Whenever I paint my nails one of the first things my boyfriend says to me is, “what’s that smell”? Maybe I have just become immune to it, but he is right. Due to all the toxins and harmful chemicals many brands put into their nail varnish, no wonder it doesn’t smell nice!
However, many beauty brands do more natural options of nail varnish that are better for your nails and health ! (And don’t make your boyfriend complain). Let’s take a look at our top 5!
Nailberry
Who here has heard of Nailberry? If you haven’t then you need to look them up!
Nailberry started life as a luxury nail bar in Chelsea, London. All their nail varnishes are formulated to deliver a manicure with no compromise on colour. Their collection; L’Oxygene is vegan and cruelty free and is also free from 12 harmful toxins. The technology allows the nail varnish to deliver a colour film which allows air and water vapour to pass through it making sure your natural nail is respected.
They have over 45 different colours to choose from so you really are spoiled for choice! As well as nail varnishes, they also do nail balm, cuticle nail oil and top coats!
Tenoverten
Started as a result of not having any proper nail salons in their Manhattan Tribeca neighbourhood, the owners Nadine and Adair created Tenoverten as an environment where clients could receive expert treatment specialising in natural and simple nail varnishes.
The collection is composed of nail varnish that is free from the 8 most dangerous chemicals and they are also vegan and cruelty free. They are also made in a factory in the USA that honours the Leaping Bunny Program so none of their products are tested on animals!
Online you can choose from over 30 nail colours; ranging from deep reds, to pastels and even some futuristic metallics. If you’re lucky enough to be in America you can pop over to one of their salons and indulge yourself in a one of a kind experience. However, if you can’t do that (like me) then definitely have a look at their online store.
Obsessive Compulsive Cosmetics
If you love high definition nail varnish then OCC is the one for you. Their nail varnish is vegan friendly and cruelty free. With over 40 colours to choose from in colours ranging from midnight black to bright candy pink, there is a colour for everyone.
Ella + Mila
Ella+ Mila focus solely on producing only eco-friendly fashion forward products that are ‘seven chemical free’. What’s this you might ask? This means that none of their nail varnishes contain Toluene, Dibutyl Phthalate, Formaldehyde, Formaldehyde Resin, Triphenyl Phosphate, Xylene or Camphor, making it free from the most toxic chemicals found in nail varnish. They are also vegan and cruelty free.
Instantly recognisable due to their elephant logo, this brand embodies the simplicity of nail varnish at its finest. On their website there are over 100 colours to choose from; most of them based on cute pastel and bright colours.
If you like fashion and luxury then LXV is the Chanel of natural nail polishes. Offering pigment rich colours in classy shades this is where high end meets healthy.
LVX focuses on translating the current runway trends into seasonal collections, suitable for any fashion forward person!
