Inspire Series — Interview With Chloe Brotheridge From Calmer You
With summer ending and the change of weather often affecting our mood (and our skin in turn), I thought we could all take inspiration from Chloe Brotheridge. Chloe is an all round superstar - anxiety expert, hypnotherapist, nutritionist, founder of the online resource and consultancy Calmer You, and author of The Anxiety Solution. I met Chloe at a wellness event in London and her kind and peaceful vibe immediately shone through; there is a lot you can learn from her, enjoy reading!
Tell us a bit about how and why you started Calmer You.
Having had my own anxiety issues in the past, I wanted to create a blog and online resources to help people that are going through the same things as I went through; things like overthinking and worrying, panic attacks and perfectionism. There is loads of free advice and help on the site and twice a year I run my online group program ‘Your Calmest Self’.
What do you enjoy the most about your job?
I love seeing people make progress and showing them that change is possible and that they don’t need to be stuck with anxiety. Getting emails from people around the world makes me really happy!
Do you have a morning ritual to start your day?
Yes! I’d honestly be lost without my morning routine. I get up early and meditate, journal and drink a (sugar free and vegan) hot chocolate! Sets me up for the day!
How do you relax?
Meditation is to me, as important as showering is in my day. I absolutely love it. I also love getting out for a run in Victoria Park near where I live. Having a giggle with one of my friends over the phone also helps me to relax!
Who and what inspires you?
I get very inspired walking around London - I love all the old buildings and also the streets of boutique shops around Hackney. I’m very inspired by my best friends who are incredibly strong and also hilariously funny.
Do you believe there is a link between psychological wellbeing and radiant skin?
There surely is a link! I think if you’re relaxed it shows on your skin.
Do you use natural and organic products and why yes/no?
I always try to use natural products because I don’t like the idea of chemicals being absorbed into my body! Often the strong smells of synthetic products also puts me off.
What is your life philosophy?
'Set peace of mind as your highest priority and organise your life around it.’
If you had to give '3 best tips' on improving one's health and wellbeing, what would they be?
Meditate, meditate, meditate.
You can get Chloe's book The Anxiety Solution on Amazon here and at most major book stores in the UK. Having read it, I cannot recommend it enough for anyone who wants to feel calmer and enjoy their life more regardless of whether you think you've got anxiety or not.
